In response to a Supreme Court directive regarding the UP school slapping case in Muzaffarnagar, the police have upgraded the charges against the accused teacher, Tripta Tyagi. They added IPC section 295-A, which deals with deliberately outraging religious feelings, alongside the initial charges of IPC sections 504 and 323. While 504 and 323 are bailable, section 295-A is non-bailable and may result in a prison term of up to three years, a fine, or both for the accused.
