India and the United States signed their first bilateral ‘Cultural Property Agreement’ (CPA) on Friday. This agreement aims to prevent the illegal trafficking of cultural property and ensure the retrieval of antiquities to their place of origin. It will facilitate the quick seizure of Indian antiquities at US Customs and ensure their smooth repatriation to India.
