NEW DELHI: Ahead of festive season rush, Northern Railway has formulated an action plan to tackle the problem of unauthorised ticketing agencies to prevent misuse of the ticketing system. We have drawn out an action plan to check systemic loopholes in sale and purchase of tickets, said a senior Northern Railway official. In order to prevent reservation under fictitious names and subsequent sale of transferred tickets, there will be raids on the premises of unauthorised travel agents, Yatri Ticket Sewak Kendras and Jan Sadharan Ticket Booking Sewak centres with the help of local police, he said. There will be special drives to prevent misuse of various quotas especially emergency quota, roadside quota, Tatkal quota and quota nowadays being kept for amenities staff in important trains. A concerted efforts will be made to detect fake/forged tickets and resale/reuse of unused/unsold tickets. Monitoring of Tatkal reservation will be carried out to prevent unauthorised persons cornering Tatkal tickets. According to the official, travel agencies, which are being run by close relatives of railway employees, to be discreetly identified, close monitoring on the aspect of connivance of other railway employees with reservation clerks on jumping the queue and seeking tickets from behind the counters. Adequate RPF personnel will be deployed to tackle touts near the ticket reservation centres.
