Aircel unveils data packs to retain users

KOLKATA: Aircel has unveiled an affordable range of unlimited data packs ranging from Rs 9 to Rs 134 Monday in a bid to hold on to data customers Monday. The company offers of unlimited 2G data packs of Rs 9, Rs 78 and Rs 134 are aimed to boost mobile internet consumption. With an USSD recharge of Rs 9 a day, subscribers can enjoy 100 MB of data for the purpose of basic internet,” said the company in a statement. Subscribers will get bigger dollops of 2G data of 1GB and 1.5GB for Rs 78 and Rs 134 respectively. The 1GB and 1.5GB ETOP packs, with validity of 10 days and 28 days, are in line with the growing data consumption. Aircel’s Chief Marketing Officer Anupam Vasudev said the sudden proliferation in online entertainment platforms had led to consumers spending more time on their smartphones than watching TV. “Being a data focused company, Aircel is constantly innovating with data products to stay relevant,” he said. Sunil Kuttam, National Head (Data) Aircel, said there had been a dramatic increase in smartphones sales, which had led to widespread need of data, especially for youth. “We’re confident our products will help fuel internet adoption for those who still aren’t online,” he said.
