KOLKATA: JSPL executed a Rs 732-crore order to supply long rails to the Indian Railways on July 29, 2019. As part of this order, the company supplied 1,26,604 tonnes of long rails to Indian Railways ahead of schedule. “Out of this total quantity, JSPL had supplied 97,400 tonnes of long rails on April 22, 2019, four months ahead of schedule,” an official statement said.Earlier in July 2018, JSPL had bagged the first-ever global tender for supply of rails to Indian Railways. The tender attracted bid from eight leading players, which included seven of the leading global manufacturers of rails.In addition to the Indian Railways, JSPL said it is also expecting orders of a minimum volume of 2 lakh tonnes per annum of 13/26 metre rails from Rail Vikas Nigam Limited (RVNL) and IRCON International Limited. JEPL won an order from RVNL to supply 89,042 tonnes of UIC 60 kg IRS T-12 880-grade 13-metre rails for RVNL’s upcoming projects. The company said it received the LOA for the order from RVNL on May 8, 2019. The size of the order is in the range of Rs 665 crore, the statement added.
