Kerala Port gets a central gift; sabotage laws relaxed

VIZHINJAM: The prospects for Vizhinjam Port in Kerala got a big boost when Nitin Gadkari, Union minister of shipping and surface transport relaxed the sabotage laws. He declared that the port will get a special relaxation from the cabotage law, a norm that insists on ships registered in India to only ply between Indian ports. Gadkari made the announcement on the occasion of laying the foundation stone for the Rs 7,525 crore port to be built by the Adani group. The project would be completed in 1,000 days.
