MANGALURU (KARNATAKA): The draft of the national litigation policy, aimed at reducing pending cases in various courts, has been prepared and would be submitted to the Prime Minister for placing it before the Cabinet, Union Law Minister D V Sadananda Gowda has said. An inter-ministerial meeting was held in the presence of all ministerial secretaries and it is hoped that the policy would be in force within a month, the Union Minister told reporters here yesterday. The policy would help prevent cases between departments and cases between public sector undertakings and departments from going to court, he said. Cases would be resolved within the departments instead of being taken to the court, Gowda said. Around 55 per cent of litigations were among departments where the government was either a party or a respondent and in some cases the petitioner, he added.
