MUMBAI: Tata Consultancy Services has appointed Arun Batra as global head of its BFSI business process services division, as part of a reorganisation following the exit of Abid Ali Neemuchwala as global head of business process services. Since Neemuchwala moved out to become chief operating officer at Wipro in February, TCS has been overhauling the reporting structure in its business process unit. The unit was split into banking and nonbanking business. Batra took over his new role in March, his LinkedIn profile shows. He was previously business head of the insurance and healthcare BPO business. Ashok Pai will be in charge of the nonbanking part of the business, ET had reported last month. BPO business contributed about $1.8 billion (about Rs 11,350 crore) to TCS’ $15.5-billion (Rs 94,648 crore) revenues. Banking and financial services contributed more than half of that amount, analysts estimate. “Clearly they think that the business was too big for one person to handle — the split responsibility will likely help the unit grow faster and diversify revenue streams,” an analyst with a Mumbai-based brokerage said. Under Neemuchwala, the BPO unit had business heads responsible for verticals. ET has previously reported that Dinanath Kholkar replaced Neemuchwala as the global head for the entire business process services unit. Batra joined TCS when the firm bought Citigroup’s back-office captive for $505 million in 2008. He has previously worked at Standard Chartered, BNP Paribas and the National Bank of Kuwait.
