After a four-year hiatus, demonstrations against CAA returned to Assam following Amit Shah’s announcement before Lok Sabha elections. Ten activists of KMSS and SMSS were detained in Dhubri, Tinsukia, and Hailakandi districts. Activists raised anti-CAA slogans and were detained by the police in Guwahati. Assam witnessed violent protests in December 2019.
