Year 2023 in Jammu and Kashmir saw a significant decline in incidents of bandhs and street violence compared to previous years. Until December 15, there were no organised hartals or organised stone-pelting incidents related to terrorism and separatism, in contrast to 52 hartals and 1,221 stone-pelting incidents in 2018. Additionally, the home ministry reported a decrease in terrorist-initiated incidents, encounters, civilian and security personnel fatalities. The tourism sector in J&K experienced remarkable growth, with over 1.9 crore incoming tourists and a record-breaking 4.4 lakh yatris participating in the Amarnath Yatra.
